The launch of these two books on 17 September 2008 reunited friends, colleagues and former students of Pierre du Bois at the Domaine de Penthes in Geneva. After short speeches by Mrs Irina du Bois, Prof. Philippe Burrin, Director of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and Ambassador Bénédict de Tscharner, President of the Foundation for the history of the Swiss in the world in Geneva, l’Histoire de l’Europe monétaire 1945-2005. Euro qui comme Ulysse… was presented by Prof. Eric Bussière, Professor at the University of Paris IV (Sorbonne), who put forward the wide variety of sources used and the passionate style of Pierre du Bois’ last work.
The collection in tribute to Pierre du Bois, edited by André Liebich and Basil Germond, with contributions from Bruno Arcidiacono, Jean-François Bergier, Lubor Jilek, Alfonso Mattera, André Rezler, Benedikt Shoenborn, Georges-Henri Soutou, Marie-Thérèse Bitsch, Victor-Yves Chebali, Gilles Grin, Franz Blankart, Mohammad-Reza Djalili and Thierry Kellner, Jussi Hanhimäki, Adrian Ivan and Andre Liebich, as well as a biobibliographical essay on Pierre du Bois by Basil Germond and François Jequier, was presented by Basil Germond, one of the last PhD students to have worked under the direction of Prof. Pierre du Bois.
