Mostafa Ahmed Abdellatif

Mostafa Ahmed Abdellatif held the Pierre du Bois Scholarship from 2015 to 2016.

Mostafa Ahmed Abdellatif, an Egyptian citizen, obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the History Department of the Faculty of Arts in Assuit University, Egypt, in 2007. He then pursued further studies at the Institute of African Research and Studies (IAFRS) in Cairo University, graduating with a Diploma of African Studies in 2010. He continued his studies at Cairo University with a Master in Modern and Contemporary History, graduating in 2015: his thesis topic was on the colonial exploitation of the Congo Free State (1885-1908), a case study of the economics of rubber plantations. In November of the same year, he began his doctoral studies at the International History Department of the Graduate Institute. He has participated in several conferences and workshops, and has published in a variety of different media. His wider research interests include the economic history of Africa, particularly Central and Southern Africa, labour, economic development, and economic growth.
