Bienvenue à la Fondation Pierre du Bois pour l’histoire du temps présent créée en 2008, selon le vœu de Pierre du Bois qui avait, depuis fort longtemps déjà, formulé ses objectifs. La Fondation Pierre du Bois vise à susciter des recherches sur l’histoire du temps présent et à soutenir des chercheurs et des étudiants travaillant dans ce domaine.

The first Annual Pierre du Bois Doctoral Workshop, organized by the Graduate Institute in partnership with the Pierre du Bois Foundation, will take place at Maison de la Paix on 22 October 2021 on the topic of “Modernizing Landscapes: New Histories of Development and the Environment between Europe and the World”. PhD organizers of the workshop are Mona Bieling, Ahmad Fahoum, Simon Lobach, and Michele Sollai.

Dr. Geoffroy Legentilhomme

Award | Prix – September 2021

The Annual Pierre du Bois Prize was awarded to Dr Geoffroy Legentilhomme on the 17 of September 2021 for his thesis entitled, “Mutualisme, concurrence et science actuarielle: Contributions à l’historiographie du système suisse d’assurance-maladie (1865-1970)”. The thesis was defended at the Graduate Institute, Geneva.

Political Proteus: Nationalism’s Entangled Histories

The Annual Pierre du Bois Conference, organized by the Graduate Institute in partnership with the Pierre du Bois Foundation and with support from the Swiss National Science Foundation, took place at the Maison de la Paix from 26-27 August. A Keynote Lecture titled, Being in Time: The Experience of Nationhood was given by Bernard Yack, the ‘Lerman Neubauer Professor of Democracy and Public Policy’ at Brandeis University.
