Bienvenue à la Fondation Pierre du Bois créée en 2008, selon le voeu de Pierre du Bois qui avait, depuis fort longtemps déjà, formulé ses objectifs: susciter et soutenir des recherches sur l’histoire du temps présent et mettre à la disposition des étudiants et des chercheurs, des livres, revues et documents nécessaires à leurs recherches.

In partnership with the Department of International History at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva the Pierre du Bois Foundation is launching a series of Doctoral Workshops. The Pierre du Bois Doctoral Workshops offer an opportunity for doctoral students of the International History Department to organise annually a one-day workshop to further their research and deepen their knowledge of a theme or set of themes related to their work.

The lecture was given by Kiran Klaus Patel the chair of European history at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich. The lecture provided a fresh and provocative interpretation of the history of European integration. The lecture is part of a series of public lectures addressing Europe’s role in the nineteenth-and twentieth-century world organized by Pierre du Bois Chair Michael Goebel.

Prix Pierre du Bois 2020

Dr. Paroma Ghose

Award | Prix – September 2020

The Annual Pierre du Bois Prize was awarded to Dr. Paroma Ghose on the 11 of September 2020 for her thesis entitled, “Silence…On est en France”: A Rap History of the ‘Other’ in France, 1981-2012. The thesis was defended at the Graduate Institute, Geneva, in 2020.

Political Proteus: Nationalism’s Entangled Histories

The Annual Pierre du Bois Conference, organized by the Graduate Institute in partnership with the Pierre du Bois Foundation and with support from the Swiss National Science Foundation, will take place at the Maison de la Paix from 25-26 March 2021 (The conference which was scheduled to take place on October 1 and 2, 2020, was postponed due to Covid 19). A Keynote Lecture titled, Being in Time: The Experience of Nationhood. will be given by Bernard Yack, the ‘Lerman Neubauer Professor of Democracy and Public Policy’ at Brandeis University on March 25.
