Barbara Martin obtained her BA in History and Russian studies from the University in Geneva in 2009 and her Masters in International History and Politics from the Graduate Institute in 2011. Her new project focuses on Russian Orthodox dissent and the religious revival in the late Soviet Union.

Her interests also include the history of the Holocaust and Holodomor, memory politics, and nationalism in the post-Soviet space.
