Dominic Eggel obtained a PhD in International History and Politics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies<\/em>, Geneva. Dominic also earned a Licence in International Relations and a Master in International History and Politics from the Graduate Institute<\/em>, Geneva, as well as a Diploma in International Studies from the University of Technology<\/em>, Sydney. With the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation, Dominic worked as a visiting fellow at the Forschungszentrum Europ\u00e4ische Aufkl\u00e4rung<\/em> in Potsdam and at the Humboldt University<\/em> in Berlin. Dominic’s research focuses on the history of ideas and political thought, historiography \u2013 particularly the Enlightenment and early historicism \u2013 as well as the study of identity and alterity in early modern Europe. Dominic’s thesis on the Idea of Europe in Classical Weimar: the case of Goethe, Schiller, Herder and Wieland<\/em> was awarded the Latsis Prize 2011 of the University of Geneva and the 2011 Pierre du Bois Prize of the Graduate Institute in Geneva.<\/div>\n
