\n\t\t\t\t\tThe subject of this year’s Pierre du Bois Annual Lecture <\/em>organized by the Graduate Institute in partnership with theFondation Pierre du Bois pour l’histoire du temps présent<\/em> was the Holocaust. It was delivered by renowned historian Saul Friedlander. A world famous historian and Holocaust survivor, Saul Friedlander has devoted much of his career to studying the terrible crimes committed during the Holocaust. This work takes on renewed importance today as a generation of witnesses is slowly disappearing. He has made great contributions to scholarly studies on Nazi Germany and World War II. Saul Friedlander is currently Professor of History at the University of California, Los Angeles. An alumnus of the Graduate Institute, Friedlander obtained his PhD from the Graduate Institute in 1963. He then stayed on in a teaching capacity until 1988. He has been honoured with a number of awards, including the Pulitzer Prize in 2008, for his work The Years of Extermination: Nazi Germany and the Jews, 1939–1945.<\/em>\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
