The inaugural lecture was given by David Bell the Sidney and Ruth Lapidus Professor in the Department of History at Princeton University. He looked at the role played by political charisma in the Atlantic Revolutions of the period 1775-1820s. The lecture is part of a series of public lectures addressing Europe’s role in the nineteenth-and twentieth-century world organized by Pierre du Bois Chair Michael Goebel.
